Here’s what the Bend Bulletin has to say about us, pretty neat I’d say.
LEFT COAST COUNTRY AT MCMENAMINS When you fire up www.leftcoastcountry.com and start looking for something to listen to, the song that immediately presents itself — down there in the lower right-hand corner, under a convenient “Play” button — is called “Pickin’ Livin’.” This is instructive, for two reasons. One: those apostrophes. Even though the five beard-wielding fellas in Left Coast Country call Portland home, their sound is authentically country, rural and twangy. The strings bend and ring just right for bluegrass, while the vocals are as nasal and Southern-sounding as the stuff you’d hear coming off front porches in Appalachia. This is Northwest roots music done the right way. And two: “Pickin’ Livin’” conveys the sense that, for LCC, pickin’ is not a hobby, not a job, but a way of life. The band will bring its high-octane, traditional-but-not-tired sound to McMenamins Old St. Francis School on Wednesday. — Ben Salmon, The Bulletin
